It’s hard growing up, especially if you come from a bad area and there is a bad environment around you but I suppose it all depends on how you want to live your life. I came to the UK about six years ago from Ecuador; it is the same way wherever you go.

I discovered Young Enterprise when completing some business course work and we had to set up a business; that’s how I got involved. It has done so much for me and gave me opportunities I never would have had. You can meet people in different environments and it gives you a new future

My company and I won the first competition we entered and actually got to go to Boston and represent London. It was part of our prize to go there and meet with potential new investors. We succeeded as everyone thought our product was so unique; we make towels from bamboo! No one can believe that.

I feel I’m a lot better prepared for the future- I’ve had new experiences and gained new skills. I now know I want to do better and the way to do it is to study and try my best. We can be whoever we want to be if we focus and set ourselves targets. We will go through troubles but just stay focused, try your best and you can make it.

YEL has taught me to try my best for my future and go as far as I can go, which I am doing. I’ve just finished my A-Levels and am planning to go university.
