Student at Central Foundation Boys' School

Growing up in a house with five siblings, I didn’t have the privileges others might experience- not that I’m complaining. I heard about YEL through teachers and seen it as a challenge. Six awards and so much experience later, I’m having the last laugh!

Young Enterprise is just such a great experience. Not only that but our YE organiser, Nicola McFadyen was a great help. She helped us set up, explained everything, and was a great support throughout.

Throughout my life, all the teachers I’ve ever had said I was a natural leader. What this experience showed me was the real difficulties that you can face in business but how to overcome them. So much work went into it, it was crazy! I got a real sense of business life and self belief. Interview processes, management and presentations helped me overcome my nerves and I feel I’m better as a leader.

I got a real sense of business life and self belief

Not only that, but Young Enterprise has given me a 'get out of jail free' card; exams, coursework, lady problems - it all got to my head too much, so working on my company Equinox allowed me to do something different; to get away from it but whilst doing it, it taught me to confront my problems. In business, if you don’t confront problems, they'll always avoid you, so get it sorted to progress. I implemented this in my personal life, and so far, it’s paid off! As long as you're prepared for a challenge, and for all that faces you, I say, ‘DO IT!’
