Young Enterprise London continues to grow dramatically. This year almost 87,000 students took part in a wide range of programmes. This level of activity is a result of new schools taking part and also many existing ones who value the experience that YE offers and invite us to run programmes year after year.
Achiever Growth
In the last academic year we delivered a wide range of programmes to almost 87,000 students across all 33 London Boroughs. This was an increase of 9,000 students on last year. Since 2001/2 we have exceeded our achiever growth target each year. That year we had just over 2,000 students taking part. To achieve this level of participant growth we have developed and nurtured relationships with schools. Providing quality programmes with national standards has lead schools to come back to us year after year. Our reputation has grown and we have been able to work with more schools. We now have over 900 schools and other centres that are registered to take part.
Challenging Schools
Young Enterprise London has built up an all-inclusive organisation that provides opportunities for everyone to practice entrepreneurship, irrespective of their background learning style, age or religion.
To demonstrate this here are a few statistics: This year 5,400 students took part in company based programmes. Of these students, 14% of students had designated learning or physical challenges.
Of the 226 challenging Schools across London, YEL worked with over 100 last year.
Volunteer Growth
YEL has a vibrant business volunteer network which is growing year on year as we engage with more students. We actively engage people from the world of work and entrepreneurs to deliver all of our programmes and over 80 volunteers give their time to run local Young Enterprise management boards.
We currently have over 3,600 registered volunteers. More and more businesses are beginning to understand the benefit that their employees get from volunteering, as well as the benefits for young students. We have a comprehensive training programme and can provide many different volunteering experiences including team challenges.
Corporate Relations
The Corporate Relations Team works towards developing and delivering long-term, sustainable partnerships within the corporate sector. With the successful launch of the Company Membership Scheme in 2007 the number of corporate partnerships continues to grow. This scheme enables corporates to develop their employee engagement and community involvement programmes by working alongside a dedicated relationship manager who will provide the expertise and advice on how to access young people in London. For a minimum contribution of £5,000 and a promise of volunteers, the Young Enterprise London Company Membership Scheme can help businesses make a difference to the lives of London's youth.
